10 years of partnership
Over the last decade, the Wimbledon Foundation has awarded £4.2m in 433 grants through its various grant funds administered by The London Community Foundation.
Our partnership with the Foundation began in June 2014 with the launch of the Wimbledon Foundation Community Fund which aims to help meet social needs and reduce inequalities in the London boroughs of Merton and Wandsworth.

We also collaborated on the Wimbledon Foundation’s Homelessness Fund, launched to mark the completion of the No.1 Court roof in 2019, which supported four local homelessness charities through multi-year core cost funding. The Homelessness Fund returned for a second round of funding in 2024, and a further £480,000 was awarded to four homelessness charities for three years from January 2025.
The Wimbledon Foundation’s Community Fund + offers two-year continuation and development funding to smaller, user-led groups who have previously received grants from the Foundation. In this way, the Wimbledon Foundation was one of the first of our donors to see the significance of multi-year funding for core infrastructure to help strengthen the resilience and sustainability of community groups.
During COVID-19, we supported the Wimbledon Foundation in allocating emergency funding to 55 local charities caring for those most severely affected by the pandemic.

Celebrating 10 years of Wimbledon Foundation
In 2024 the Wimbledon Foundation celebrated its 10 year anniversary – read all about a decade of championing opportunity for all:
“Strengthening our local community in Merton and Wandsworth is at the very heart of what the Wimbledon Foundation does. Since 2014 we have awarded more than £4.2m to local charities and community groups which we could not have done without the experience and local knowledge from the team at London Community Foundation. This was especially true during the pandemic when our partnership enabled us to react quickly and flexibly to ensure our funding was reaching those most in need in our community.”
