If you're having a bad day, you see these people jumping around. We have a 91-year-old that thinks he's 16. You can never have a bad day with them.
I live on the estate and, this year, I had quite a lot of free time because my kids have grown up. I went into the office on the estate and said, what can I do? I have two disabled children, so it was more ‘what can I do as volunteer?’.
So, I helped at the food bank, who then introduced me to here and I love it.

They cheer you up and you know, we’re just here to make them a cup of tea or give him a bowl of soup. But like Jean said, it is gonna get worse with the cost-of-living crisis and we are just here to help and make their day. But they make ours mostly.
I want to bring the estate here. I obviously know who's getting food parcels and a lot of the people here won't admit it and they won't say that they're struggling. That's where I wanna bring what I’ve learned from here back to the estate and what I’ve learned from the estate back to here.
You definitely see that it's really affecting them.
You can wake up and have a really rubbish morning and you come here and you just can't help but smile. They make you smile. They're so grateful for that cup of tea and they want to know how you are.
I love coming here. I love seeing them. And I love checking up on them even when they're not here. You know, we do check up on them. It's not just Thursday, they just make me smile every day.
