Events & fundraising

By Lana Jakilazek

I said I wanted to run London, just the once! The friends I met along the way and the pride I felt representing LCF continued far beyond the day itself. It’s why I’m coming back again this year!

Run for London

The Virgin Money London Marathon 2021

The Virgin Money London Marathon is the world’s largest annual fundraising event. In 2020, the Virgin Money London Marathon - The 40th race took place on 4 October and for the first time in its history, participants were able to run, walk and jog the 26.2 miles from anywhere in the world. Over 40,000 participants took part from over 100 countries and set a Guinness World Record for the most people to run a remote in 24 hours.

The 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon is set to take place on 3 October 2021 and we have spots available! If you are interested in taking part and fundraising for The London Community Foundation, please fill in an application form and send it to Lana at

We ask each of our runners to raise £2,000 to support our work helping London’s community groups and charities. The money you raise will help us carry out vital work transforming local communities across London, especially throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

Virtual Virgin Money London Marathon 2021

On the same day, the Virtual Virgin Money London Marathon will be taking place! We don't have any charity places available, but you can register for a place here and choose to fundraise for LCF.

Got another fundraising idea?

If you have an idea to raise funds for community projects in London, you can set up your own fundraising page here. It might be a park run, a bake sale, a pub quiz or a sponsored sing-a-thon, every little helps!

For example, in July 2018, our valued partner Autotrader put forward a team of Tough Traders to take part in a gruelling Tough Mudder event, raising vital funds in support of The London Community Foundation.
