A Mancunian, Merlyn joined LCF with a wide background in areas such as project management, accounting and customer service. While in Manchester, he studied the AAT and also began a community kitchen, providing free meals to a diverse community. It was because of this drive to help people that drove Merlyn to change his career from accounting into the charity sector and moved to London in 2014.
Role
As a Grants Coordinator, Meryln's role is to handle some of the smaller funds, whilst providing broader support to the rest of the Grants & Impact Team. He's also one of the first points of contact for applicants and provides in-house data management support for the team.
Ask him about
As one of the longest serving members of the London Community Foundation Team, Merlyn has helped the organisation as we responded to crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the Grenfell Tower fire and most recently, the cost-of-living crisis. He also lives with the mental and physical impact of a neurological condition, which gives him a greater understanding of some of the challenges facing the individuals we support. Previously, he's worked within the financial sector and helped to build voluntary community kitchen hubs across the UK. His key areas of knowledge are health, environment, wellbeing and financial insecurity (poverty).
We love London
Merlyn loves London for its diversity and how there is always something new to discover. The vibrant nightlife and array of activities mean his inability to drive doesn’t prevent him from discovering new experiences.
