London’s grassroots organisations are vital for our communities’ most vulnerable people, now more than ever in the face of COVID19/Coronavirus. We recognise the challenges organisations across London are facing around service, delivery, fundraising and staffing and want to ensure we help and not hinder during this time.
Apply for funding
If you are looking for urgent funding for your charitable organisation, please apply via the London Community Response portal.
About the London Community Response portal
To ensure we can respond to need quickly and reduce pressures on frontline organisations, LCF is working collaboratively with over 60 funders across London to provide emergency and response funding during the coronavirus crisis.
All emergency funds coming to or managed by LCF – including the National Emergencies Trust, the Co-op Food Fund and the London Communities Coronavirus Appeal – are being allocated through this portal. By working with other funders on this portal, we want to support the sector by reducing time spent applying for funds by creating one easy access point. This means if you apply through the portal your application may be assessed by another funder.
This portal, coordinated by London Funders, will be funding organisations in waves – from urgent needs in the short term to larger grants for service transformation costs and ongoing work to support communities, in due course.
Wave five of the London Community Response is now open for applications.
There are two available strands of funding. This round will mainly be focused on renewal, supporting three “missions” for the future beyond covid-19 – building strong communities, a new deal for young people, and ensuring a robust safety net. There will also be a small number of crisis response grants to deal with urgent needs of London’s communities through the third lockdown and months ahead.
You can apply for a crisis response grant and/or a renewal grant.
- Crisis response grants are for up to £10,000 to enable you to respond to the urgent needs of communities for up to six months, starting as soon as the grant is awarded. Applications will be considered in the order they are received with a final deadline of 5pm on Thursday 21 January.
- Renewal grants are for up to £50,000 to enable you to support the recovery and renewal of London’s communities over a full year, starting from April 2021. Renewal grants can be for the costs of a specific project, a partnership approach, or for the core costs of running your organisation. The deadline to apply for a renewal grant is midday 15 February and will be assessed as quickly as possible after this date.

The London Community Foundation signed the London Funders Funder Statement of Commitments, a series of commitments we, and other funders, have made to support frontline charities and community groups during this crisis. The funding commitments include listening to changing needs and how LCF can support adapting activities and discussing reporting/monitoring dates for your grant. In November 2020, we have resigned this pledge, 'Still standing with the sector' to assure organsations we will continue to listen, learn and support them.
