The London Community Foundation's former Chairman awarded CBE in New Year Honours

All of us at The London Community Foundation would like to congratulate Michael Brophy, our former Chairman, who has been appointed a CBE in the Queen's New Year Honours.

Michael was our Chair and played a huge part in consolidating Community Foundations in London to form what is now The London Community Foundation - a beacon for quality grantmaking and thoughtful, effective philanthropic giving in the capital. In previous years, Michael as CEO of the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) was instrumental in helping Community Foundations to set up in the UK. In his role at CAF, Michael successfully lobbied for the introduction of gift aid and other tax reliefs which have generated millions of pounds for charities since.

We are delighted that he has been recognised for his tireless contribution to the sector.
